John Robert Winkel, 69, Green Bay, passed away from natural causes, on Friday, April 7, 2023. He was born July 16, 1953, in Green Bay to Earl George and Jean Marie (Hansen) Winkel.

John graduated from Green Bay Premontre High School, Class of 1971. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for 13 years. John's last station was Honolulu, HI.

After he retired from the Navy, he worked for Berkley Engineering in Honolulu for several years. John was an avid reader all his life. He had a great curiosity in many areas. John was also a big Packer fan.

He is survived by his son, Derek (Tara) Winkel; grandson, Antonio (Lilyanne) Falzon; great granddaughter, Sofia Falzon; siblings, Pat (Bruce) Bolzenthal, Peg Meneau, Tom (Mary) Winkel, Pete (Dianne) Winkel; 11 nephews and one niece; several great-nieces and nephews, one great-great nephew, Stetson, (born on John's birthday last year), an aunt, Rosie Ronsmans, many cousins and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Beth, maternal and paternal grandparents, and brother-in-law, Dick Meneau.

John's family would like to thank Blaney Funeral Home for their assistance. John's remains will be interred in the Central Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at King, Wisconsin.
