John Alex Johnson, 77, Green Bay, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024. He was born February 7, 1947, in Delavan, WI to Alex and Mary (Keir) Johnson.
John graduated from Elkhorn High School, Class of 1965. After graduation he went on to Milwaukee Institute Technology School and joined the U.S. Air Force. He served from 1967 to 1972 and earned his associate's degree in business at the same time. John was stationed in Turkey and made the rank of Staff Sergent. He married Sandra Servi on September 30, 1967, in Lily, WI just before being deployed to Turkey. After deployment they returned home where John began a successful career as a salesman, selling anything and everything from cars to seafood. In November of 1978 John and Sandy were blessed with their son, Marc. John loved being a father and took an active role in Marc's life, being a troop leader for scouts, and a coach. Everything Marc did, John was there to support and cheer. He enjoyed traveling, playing card games, playing club volleyball and softball, fishing, and participating in corvette club. John loved being a grandpa and never missed any event. He was proud to have taught his granddaughter how to swim and taught Marc and his grandchildren how to fish.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandy; son, Marc (Kristin) Johnson; grandchildren, Eli (Sonia) Johnson, Celia Johnson; nieces and nephews, Lindsay Patnaude, Karen (James) Cullen, Matt Bubolz; sister-in-law, Sharan Servi; other relatives, and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Mary; brother-in-law, Bruce Servi; parents-in-law, Melbourne and Georgiana Servi; step-mother-in-law, Lorraine Servi.
Friends and family will gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 1; Visitation will continue at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1731 St. Agnes Dr. from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, August 2. John's family wishes to extend a special thank you to Unity Hospice, Dr. Ryan and the staff at St. Vincent Hospital for all of their care and compassion.
