John Allen Havey "DI John", 82, Howard, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023. He was born February 25, 1941, in Milwaukee to Roy and Alyce (Miller) Havey.

John enlisted in the U.S. Marines, which was a decision that forever changed his life in a positive way. He married his lifelong partner, Patricia Jane Eva Williams on August 19, 1961. She supported him during a 48-year marriage, and through multiple long-term absences while he defended our country in conflicts abroad.  On May 24, 1979, John retired from the Marine Corp as a First Sergeant.  Throughout John's life he remained a strong military supporter and actively helped raise funds to have wreaths and crosses placed on veteran plots at local cemeteries. He was a longtime member of VFW Post 7534 where he organized the annual Veteran's Day breakfast. He was also an active member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Suamico. He served a single term as Village Trustee to help implement necessary changes for the Village of Howard.

After his active time in the military John began working for USPS until deciding that he wanted to try a different career. He obtained his degree in accounting, decided that was not the job for him, and ultimately ending up retiring from the post office. He enjoyed fishing and loved being involved with the Wisconsin Sheltie Rescue program. John was always available to puppysit.

Through all his time in the service and career indecision he was deeply grateful for having found two wonderful women that "put up with him".

He is survived by his significant other, Beverly Fulfer; his son, Paul (Cheryl) Havey of Green Bay, WI; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Havey; brother-in-law, Burton Williams; other relatives, and friends.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; children, Chris Suelflohn, Mark Havey; parents, Roy and Alyce; brothers, Thomas Havey and James Havey; parents-in-law, Burton and Jeanne Williams; brother-in-law, Michael Williams.

Friends and family will gather at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 2809 Flintville Rd., Suamico from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 4; Service to follow at 1 p.m.  Full military honors will conclude the service. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
