John K. Grosso, 99, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026.

John was preceded in death by his wife Audrey and was the last living sibling of 10. He is survived by his five children: sons, Mark (Pam) Grosso (Geneva, IL), Randall Grosso (Las Vegas, NV), Ronald (Kathy) Grosso (Cottage Grove, WI); and daughters, Jeanne Grosso, and Cheryl Grosso both of Green Bay; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was particularly close to his brother James' family.

John was born on July 9, 1927 in Norway, MI to John and Margaret (Nora) Grosso. He had to leave high school to support his family after his father died. In 1945 he began a long career with the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. He married Audrey Dishneau in 1949 and his work eventually took their family to Iowa and later Wisconsin. He retired from the Railroad in the fall of 1986 after decades of serving as Roadmaster.

John was a sports fan with a special passion for Michigan teams. He played AAA minor league baseball from 1947-55 followed by decades of recreational baseball leagues until the age of 92. He medaled in two Senior Olympics representing Wisconsin in softball. He was also an avid golfer, tennis player, jogger, and bicyclist. He hunted deer in Michigan for 70 years. After retiring, John and Audrey spent 5 months a year in Florida allowing him to maintain his active lifestyle all year long.

John was a man of few words but possessed a strong work ethic that he proudly passed down to his children. He deeply appreciated good home cooking and the successes of those he loved. He will be dearly missed by his entire family. At his request, he will be honored in private.
