Joanne Peterson, 83, Green Bay, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026. She was born on December 5, 1942 at Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc, WI, to Leland 'Lee' and Margaret 'Peggy' (Viskoe) Johnson.

Joanne grew up in Valders, WI. She went on to graduate from Shawano High School, Class of 1961. On June 17, 1961 she married Richard 'Dick' D. Peterson at Sacred Heart Church in Shawano, WI. Joanne retired in December of 1998 after 33 years of employment at Sears.

Joanne was a devoted wife and mother that enjoyed traveling with her husband. They were very proud that their three sons all served in the U.S. Navy, and together Joanne and Dick visited Rota Spain, Anchorage Alaska, San Angelo Texas, and Pensacola Florida. They also enjoyed group travel with the Green Bay Fun Club, seeing many places including Cape Cod, the Bahamas, Colorado and one of their favorite places Panama City Beach Florida. After Dick passed away in 2013, Joanne continued traveling to visit family in Spain and Florida.

Joanne is survived by her son, Richard 'Rick' T. and Juani M. (Pruano Patino) Peterson Rota, Spain; grandchildren, Richard 'Rick' M. Peterson Green Bay, WI, Maria J. Peterson Murcia, Spain, Katie Peterson Neenah, WI and David Peterson Green Bay, WI; a daughter-in-law, Tina (Fischer) Green Bay, WI; siblings, James 'Jim' Johnson Iron River, MI, Gary and Lee (Pahlow) Johnson Edinburg, TX, Bonnie and Gary Gurnee Shawano, WI; and her nephew, Bradford 'Brad' Brown Shawano, WI.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard 'Dick' Peterson; her sons, William 'Bill' and Robert 'Bob' Peterson; her parents, Lee and Peggy Johnson; her parents-in-law, Richard and Gladys Peterson; her brother-in-law, Roger Brown, sister-in-law, Marlene Brown-Nelson; nieces, Valerie and Laura Brown; and sister-in-law, Susan (Raine) Johnson.

Friends and family will gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11; Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
