James L. "Jim" Pickering, 65, Green Bay died Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 due to complications of a surgery. He was born in Durand, WI to Harvey and Rosella (Bauer) Pickering. Jim Graduated from Durand High School in 1965 and from UW EauClaire in 1969. He was a Math Major but fell into Computers, the only class he ever had a D in. In 1967 he married his soul mate, Suzan Frazier and their marriage was blessed with their two children. He was employed with AC Nielson, Lenox Candles and NCR before becoming self-employed. Jim retired in 2000 but continued to help anyone with their computer problems.
He had many hobbies including reading, computers, wood working, investing, music and researching his family tree. He was active at the YMCA and the Honky Tonk Kickers and donated plasmapheresis at the Red Cross. He was previously active with Junior Achievement and several church counsels. Jim was an avid Packers fan and loved animals. He always put others first.
Jim was a kind, generous, modest, good humored and devoted family man who appreciated a good laugh with good friends. He was deeply loved by his family and friends. Jim tried to live each day as if it was his last.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Suzan; two children, Donja Hinrichs, Coos Bay, OR; Todd Pickering and his girlfriend, Terrie Gallagher, Green Bay; a granddaughter, Isabella Hinrichs; his mother, Rosella Pickering, Durand; four siblings, Gary (Sue) Pickering, Rick (Sharon) Pickering, Cristan (Henry) Black, Teresa Herbison; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Leirmo, Kathryn (Kim) When, Lyn (Dick Bogartz) Frazier; many nieces and nephews; three beloved cats, Bronco, Dallas and Nova.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harvey Pickering; a brother, Dale Pickering; two beloved dogs, Bandit and Cocoa; three beloved cats, Tygrass, Kitty and Rambo.
