Jeanette Wilma (nee Howart) Butman entered her eternal reward on January 25, 2025, at Emerald Bay Assisted Living Facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was 96 years old. Jeanette was born on October 10, 1928, in Iron Mountain, Michigan to William and Mary Howart. She married the love of her life William Butman on September 3, 1949, in Iron Mountain, Michigan. They moved to Marinette, Wisconsin, shortly thereafter, where they lived, worked and raised their family.
Jeanette enthusiastically embraced her family and work life in Marinette. She worked at the Lloyd & Fox theaters for many years. Later she was employed in the Marinette School system and was in charge of the office at the Middle School. The students and teachers loved being at school with her. Her kindness was appreciated by the students even when she had to describe certain requirements of decorum. She made the teachers feel as though they had their mother watching over them especially when they sought her advice. Jeanette retired from the Marinette School system in 1994.
Bill and Jeanette had many lifelong friendships they developed in the Marinette and Menominee area. They all had fun and grew old together. Socializing was a major part of their friendships even though they satirically referred to their meetings as the "Study Club". She was the last member. Bill and Jeanette also spent many years wintering in the Bradenton, Florida, area where they formed many amazing friendships with people around North America.
Jeanette is survived by her four children, Deborah Roland (Russell) of Green Bay, Wisconsin; Michael Butman (Donna) of Neenah, Wisconsin; Jean Gardon (Peter) of Verona, Wisconsin; and James Butman (Kathleen) of Verona, Wisconsin. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and William Howart, her husband Bill "Boots", and a sister Betty.
