Jean A. Kramer, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Ann. She was blessed with a long, full life and lived to the age of 95.
Jean was born in Wrightstown, WI on October 5, 1922 to John and Mary (Karner) Hafner. She was the second-oldest in a family of five children. Her parents were a farming family, and when she was old enough she would help with household chores, watch and care for younger siblings, and help with farm chores.
After graduating from high school, Jean began working in the payroll department at the Larsen Canning Company of Green Bay. It was there that she met her soul mate and love of her life, Reg Kramer. Whenever asked how they met, they both would claim that each was the first to spot the other. But Reg said that since he made the first move to talk to her, he should get the credit of picking Jean out. They were married at Annunciation Catholic Church on May 6, 1950 in Green Bay, and enjoyed nearly 65 wonderful years together living in the house that they built soon after they married.
Jean considered her greatest role in life as being a wife and mother. After their youngest child turned 10, she went to work full time at Pranges, and Reg took a second job so that they could send each of their children through college.
A large vegetable garden and a carpet of colorful flowers that stretched completely around the house brought much enjoyment to Jean. She was an exceptional make-it-from-scratch cook and baker, and Reg appreciated all her scrumptious recipes.
St. Jude parish was an integral part of Jean's and Reg's life, and they were lifelong members. They also enjoyed waking up at the crack of dawn and taking daily four-mile walks together.
Jean's greatest testament of love for her husband was when Reg was dying at age 95, she at age 92, lovingly cared for him with the help of her children and private nurse's aides, so that Reg could die at home.
Being a grandmother of three children brought Jean much joy. She spoiled them with cinnamon rolls and a large variety of homemade cookies.
Jean is survived by her children: Mike (Barb) Kramer, Green Bay; Sister Mary Agnes Kramer, OCD, Pewaukee, WI; and Ann (Tim) Peterson, Bloomer, WI; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Justin) Baker, Sarah (Jay) Poole, and Elise Peterson; two sisters-in-law: Alice Hafner, Glenwood Springs, CO and Marcie Kramer of Green Bay; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reg Kramer; her siblings, Jim Hafner, Mary Charles, Roland Hafner and Robert Hafner; four brothers-in-law, Don Kramer, Jim Kramer, LeVerne "Sonny" Charles and Jim Masse; two sisters-in-law, Doris Masse and Maxine Kramer.
Friends may call at Annunciation Catholic Church, 401 Gray St., from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Thiel officiating. Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
