Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Janice Ducat, 87, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026 at her home. She was born May 15, 1939 in Green Bay to parents Marie and Louis Vandervest.

The eldest of five, Janice was a natural caretaker, helping with her younger siblings, then her own family and so many others. Janice married Bernard Ducat in 1957 before starting their own family. Together they enjoyed camping, travelling, and playing cards. Later in life, Jan taught herself to decorate cakes and shared her gift with many. She loved playing Bridge with friends and took pride in her beautiful rose bushes. While she worked outside the home, Janice's heart remained with her family. You were always welcome at her home, and the treat drawer was never empty. Even in her final days, Jan's sweet tooth never faded. While she enjoyed collecting things, most importantly, she filled her house with love. If you were lucky enough to know her, you know how special she was. An amazing mother, sister and friend, her love shown even brighter as a grandmother. Her care, love and support ran deep for those around her.

Janice is survived by her children, Sharon Ducat, Julie Luebke, and Amy and Steve Fairbairn; grandchildren, Melissa Vincent-Bennett, Nick and Greta Ducat, Amanda Schultz (Jason), Luke Luebke, Jacob and Syd Luebke, McKenna Fairbairn (Matthew), Brennan Fairbairn, and Mia Fairbairn; great-grandchildren, Payton, Owen, Ruby, Camella, Mara, Wyatt, Asher, Esmae, Keston, Parker, and Sylvie. She is further survived by daughters-in-law, Kim Ducat, Patty Ducat; and her dear friend, Gail Wenninger. Other beloved survivors include her siblings, Paul (Rose) Vandervest, MaryJo Vandervest, Roger (Betty) Vandervest, and Jeff (Mary) Vandervest; as well as many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; son, Michael; and son-in-law, John Luebke. She was further preceded in death by in-laws, Marion and Bob Barbiaux, Marcella and Wilbert VanLanen, and Norman DeGrand.

Friends and family will gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4pm to 7pm on Monday, June 15; Parish Wake to follow at 7pm. Visitation will continue at St. Agnes Parish, 1484 Ninth St., from 10am to 11am on Tuesday, June 16; Mass to follow at 11am. To send online condolences, please go to www.blaneyfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Unity Hospice for the stellar support provided to the Ducat family in our time of need. To further honor Janice's memory, don't skip dessert tonight.

The Ducat family would like to extend a sincere thanks to Mary Kay for her kind, compassionate care in Jan's final weeks.
