Janet K. Kossak, Green Bay, passed away October 12, 2025. She was born March 21, 1937 and was the only child and most dedicated loving daughter, of Robert and Irene Kossak. Her life ended peacefully from the frailties of aging and complications of congestive heart failure.
Family and friends closely looked after Janet allowing her to stay in her home for several years, then later in assisted living.
Janet was visually impaired her entire life. She attended the Wisconsin School for the Blind in Janesville Wisconsin, then the Vocational School in Green Bay, Wisconsin. As an adult, she worked for many years at St. Vincent Hospital, first in Central Supply, then in Housekeeping. Janet had a reputation of being a very particularly detailed, clean person. There was clean, and then there was the much more particular, Janet Clean. Janet and her parents took vacations by car across the US together to Florida, Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, and the Seattle World's Fair. Janet enjoyed attending St. Vincent Hospital Retired Employee events, along with Special Friends and Singles activities. She enjoyed being social, going out to dinner with friends, and was insistent in having her hair professionally done every week. Janet lived her entire life with her parents. In her home, she cared for her maternal grandmother, Kathryn Mackowiak Polciennik, then later her own mother. For nearly 10 years she gave up her bed for her frail grandmother. She slept on a day bed all that time. She was a loyal member of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Green Bay, Wisconsin. As the end of her life neared, and her care needs increased, she received excellent, respectful care at Blue Jay Springs Assisted Living Facility in Green Bay.
She is survived by her first cousins, Beverly (Dave Bronikowski) Sigl Felten, Ron Zeise; special friends and neighbors, Serena Fearing, and Tom and Sue Cieslewicz. This team, and others, allowed Janet to stay in her beloved home for a longer time.
Friends and family will gather at Annunciation Catholic Church, 401 Gray Street, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, 16 October; Mass will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
