James "Jim" Verhagen, 70, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. He was born May 21, 1956, in Green Bay to Wilbert and Lila (Rausch) Verhagen.

Jim graduated from Ashwaubenon High School, Class of 1975. He took great pride at his first full-time job working at a boat manufacturing company, Glas-Tech, for his Uncle Mel. Over the years, Jim developed his craft of fiberglass that would years later turn into a passion of building and crafting his own two person speedboats. Jim retired from Fort Howard Paper Mill after 38 years of dedicated service with the title of Lead Pulp Technician. He was a die-hard packer fan through and through. He always enjoyed a conversation regarding his favorite team!

Family meant everything to Jim, always stating "How fortunate he was to be part of such a beautiful and close family!" He always made a vast effort to being a great grandfather. Whether it was a short visit or watching an entire sporting event on bleachers, he wanted to be there. He went above and beyond to make the effort of making them feel loved.

Many of Jim's greatest memories stem from the years of fishing at Lake Lac Vieux Desert with his family and friends.

Jim was a character and made friends everywhere he went. His humor and outlook on life was truly special. He left his own imprint on all of us in his own way and lived life the way he wanted to.

He is survived by his children, Michelle (Scott) Swain, Amy Verhagen, Joey Verhagen; grandchildren, Noah, Korynn, Jaylynn, Morgan, Lyla; siblings, Glenn (Shirley Demlow) Verhagen, Jerry (Karen) Verhagen, Mary (Mike) Hockers; beloved nieces and nephews, Laura, Mike, Luke, Tami, Brandon; other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Lila; sister-in-law, Mary Verhagen.
