James Michael Strebel, 88, Green Bay, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023. He was born August 25, 1935, in Green Bay to Martin "Walter" and Grace A. (Paque) Strebel.
James went to St. Patrick Grade School and graduated from Central Catholic High School. He went on to UW – Green Bay. James enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at the Osan Air Force Base in Osan, Korea and the Wheelus Air Force Base in Tripoli, Libya. He was employed at Kellogg Bank, now Associated Bank. After retirement, he served as custodian at St. Patrick's Church for many years. He enjoyed spending time outside, fishing, biking, and growing many types of tomatoes. James was a man of deep faith. He was devoted to the church and was a lifelong active member of St. Patrick Parish. For many years he served as a Minister of the Eucharist with service to the homebound, a Sacristan, a Funeral Server, and St. Patrick Food Panty Volunteer. He was a member of the West Side Serra Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Knights of Columbus Council #617. James had recently become a member of the Packer Party Group. He enjoyed going to Curative Connections and playing Bingo at the Salvation Army.
He is survived by his many cousins, friends, and special cousin and goddaughter, Mary Beth (Dan) Strebel Kline.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Grace; stepfather, Ed Schneider; brother, Rev. Roger W. Strebel.
Friends and family will gather at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 211 N. Maple St., from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19; Funeral Mass of Christian Celebration to follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Philip Dinh-Van-Theip as the celebrant. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
