James Robert "Jim" Kellerstrass III, 75, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025. The son of the late James Robert Jr. and Frances (Ringness) Kellerstrass was born on June 15, 1950, in Peoria, IL.
In 1968, Jim graduated from Spaulding Catholic High School in Peoria, IL. After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War.
After serving in the Navy, Jim would come back to Peoria and eventually moved to Green Bay in 1982. He began working for the Green Bay School District in the maintenance department and as a food service truck driver delivering meals to the schools. In 1984, he met Mona Verstoppen. The couple would be united in marriage on July 22, 1985.
Jim had a deep appreciation for blues and jazz music. He also enjoyed fishing and watching sports, namely NASCAR, the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, and Wisconsin Badgers basketball and football. Above everything else, he cherished time spent with his family whom he loved dearly.
Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mona; sons, Ben (Nicole) and Andy Kellerstrass; daughter, Ann Marie Kellerstrass; grandson, Eric Kellerstrass; siblings, Mary Burnett, Maggie (Dick) Hilliard, Sue (Ron) Widdows, Pat (Teresa) Kellerstrass, Ruth Howard, John (Licia) Kellerstrass, Ida (John) Martel; mother-in-law, Ramona Verstoppen; brother-in-law, Dr. Gerald Verstoppen; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Michael Kellerstrass and infant brother, Joseph; sister, Roberta Kellerstrass; brothers-in-law, Joseph Burnett and William Howard; stepmother, Ruth (Streid) Kellerstrass; Ben's mother, Rebecca (Hansen) Kellerstrass; father-in-law, Richard "Dick" Verstoppen; stepson, Jason Granius.
Friends and family will gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., on Thursday, July 31 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be held Friday, August 1 at Fort Howard Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1350 N.
