James "Jim" M. Burke, 83, of Oneida, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2026. He was born on November 22, 1942, in Green Bay to Patrick Raymond and Magdalen (Denessen) Burke.

Jim's mother, Magdalen, passed away when he was very young. He was raised by his father, Raymond, and Isabelle (Dorcey) Burke, who became part of his family during his childhood.

Jim graduated from Premontre High School and went on to attend St. Norbert College, where he participated in ROTC. After graduating college, Jim served in the Army, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant while stationed in Germany, where he worked with the Dutch Air Force. Following his military service, Jim married the love of his life, Barbara Lindner on February 1, 1969, at St. Francis Church in De Pere.

Jim joined the family business, Pioneer Distributing, and played an instrumental role in its growth. He was active in the State Association of Distributors, where he held several leadership positions. He retired in 2000.

An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed hunting trips throughout the country with his good friend, Dick Ebert. His passion for hunting and shooting sports led him to help establish Hunter's Park, featuring sporting clays and game courses and providing a place for fellow sportsmen to gather, enjoy the outdoors, and share their love of the sport.

Jim was also a devoted member of St. Joseph Parish, where he served as a trustee, participated actively on the building committee, and frequently volunteered as an usher.

Above all, Jim was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, and employer. A man of few words, he spoke thoughtfully and with purpose. He cared deeply about the happiness and well-being of those around him, including his family, friends, and employees. He listened and offered support to those who were struggling. Jim had a special gift for knowing when someone needed his wisdom, encouragement, or a dose of his signature dry Irish humor to make them smile. His quiet strength, generosity, and genuine concern for others touched many lives and will be remembered with great affection.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his children, Kathleen (David) Olson, Kevin (Kelly Borchardt) Burke, and Margaret Burke Winkelman; his grandchildren, Matthew, Katie, and Nicholas Olson, Cassidy and Camryn Burke, and Peyton and Logan Winkelman; his brother, John (Judy) Burke; his brother-in-law, Fritz (Pearl) Lindner; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Magdalen; his father, Raymond; Isabelle; his sister, Maureen (Francis) Clarke; his brothers, Robert (Doris) Burke and Tim (Cliff Stevenson) Burke; and his sister-in-law, Susan Lindner.

Family and friends will gather at St. Joseph Parish, 145 St. Joseph Drive, Oneida, on Friday, November 6, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Oneida. Online condolences may be shared at www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.

Jim's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cornerstone Caregiving, Caretta Senior Living-Bellevue, and Bristol Hospice for the wonderful care, compassion, and kindness they showed Jim. Special thanks to Allie and Jessica at Senior Life Care Advisors for their guidance and support throughout this journey. The dedication of everyone meant so much to Jim and his family, and they will always be remembered with deep gratitude.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Jim's name for St. Joseph Parish and Take 'Em Outdoors, a non-profit charity dedicated to taking children with severe or terminal illnesses into the outdoors, as well as combat wounded veterans.
