James L. "Jay" Brown, Jr., 21, Green Bay, died unexpectedly, Monday, Sept. 21, 2009. He was born Dec. 21, 1987, in Chicago Heights, Ill., to Clara Brown and the late James "Jimmy" Brown, Sr. Jay had a love for music, sports, and his "sweet tooth" (he loved Reece's Peanut Butter Cups, Butterfingers and cereals). He loved his family, his daughter, Semaj and loved his position as the baby boy of his family. Jay was an exceptional student and academic achiever, and a free spirit. He was a natural leader who was handsome and very charismatic.

Survivors include his daughter, Semaj; his fiancée, Talissa, both of Green Bay; his mother, Clara Brown, Howard; a brother and sister, Julius and Kenyetta Lindsey, both of Howard; a sister, Ja-Meallia Brown, Howard; nieces and nephews, Julius, Royal, Zhazlynn, Daze; two aunts, Charlene Hamilton, Green Bay; Estherleen Moore, Springfield, Ill.; four uncles, Derrick Brown, Green Bay; Charles Brown III, Chicago; Chris (Savanna) Odell, Chicago; Mark (Vera) Odell, Green Bay.

He was preceded in death by his father, James "Jimmy" Brown, Sr.; a brother, Melvin Hicks; his paternal and maternal grandparents; many aunts and uncles.

Friends may call at Incarnation Lutheran Church, 2071 Ninth St., from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Keith Swanson officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jay's name.
