Jacqueline "Jackie" Fisher (Farah), 86, a lifelong resident of Green Bay, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on March 6, 2026. Born January 21, 1940, to Fred and Julia Farah, Jackie lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, humor and an unshakable spirit.
Jackie met the love of her life, Romell "Mel" Fisher while singing in the choir at St. John's Church. Their shared faith and love of music brought them together, and the two were married, building a life centered on family and devotion. Together they raised two children, Maria (Chad) Lasecki and Joseph (Peggy) Fisher. She considered her nephew and niece, John Smits and Jennifer (Don) Sipes to be children she was blessed with also. She was the proud grandmother of Cayden Lasecki (significant other MayKayla Verkuilen) and Morgan (Dylan) Brault as well as bonus grandchildren Emilie (Charlie) Dercks and Trevor (Rosalynn) Gay. She was further blessed with great-grandchildren whom she adored. Her family was her greatest joy, and she carried immense pride in watching each generation grow.
If you knew Jackie, you knew she was truly a force. She began working at the age of 16 and continued until the remarkable age of 85, when the death of her husband and declining health finally forced her to step away. She spent 25 years working for Red Owl, where she helped open what was, then, the very first deli in a grocery store, an accomplishment she was proud to be a part of during a changing era in retail.
Later, Jackie joined the Green Bay Area Public School District, where her dedication and work ethic carried her from custodian to Nighttime Custodian Manager. She often said she didn't work out of necessity-she worked because she loved it. When retirement eventually became unavoidable, it was deeply felt; the work and the people she loved so much had been an essential part of her life.
Those who knew Jackie will remember her unmistakable personality. She answered every phone call with a cheerful, drawn-out "hellooow," and no visit ever ended without her signature goodbye: "Thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart!" It was just one of the many ways she brought laughter and warmth into everyday moments, even in her final days.
Jackie was a realist, a warrior and an optimist who faced life head-on. She became a second mom to many people she worked with or met along the way. Her tenacity, generosity, and unwavering kindness earned the respect and admiration of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Simply put, she had a heart of gold. Many hearts are breaking at the thought of navigating life without her presence. Yet the influence Jackie had on others will endure in the countless lives she touched.
Friends and family will gather at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., Howard, WI. (The entrance is directly across from BP gas station on Glendale Ave.) from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12. Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Entombment at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
In memory of Jackie, her family encourages everyone to give the gift of kindness and grace to one another. While the world may have lost her daily presence, her spirit can live on through the example she set. The greatest tribute to Jackie is to carry forward the empathy, strength and generosity she showed to everyone she encountered. This is precisely what the medical team at St. Mary's did for Jackie during her stay and a heartfelt thank you is extended to nurses Oksana and Jacki as well as to Dr. Tetteh for their compassionate care.
