Ida Mae (Hacker) Laubenstein, 81, formerly from Ashwaubenon, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 26, 2023.
Ida Mae was born in Green Bay WI on June 13, 1942 to Walter & Dorothy (Welch) Hacker. She was the youngest daughter of five children. Ida Mae graduated from Green Bay West High School, Class of 1962. Shortly after graduation, on December 1, 1962 she married the love of her life, Allen "Murphy" Laubenstein at St Joseph's Church in Green Bay. Together they had 5 children, Lisa Marie, Allen Philip Jr, Carla Jean, Tanya Denise, and Kevin James.
Ida Mae was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She always put everyone's needs above her own. A petite woman, but a mountain of strength in the eyes of all who knew her. Ida Mae had many hurdles throughout the years, but truly pushed on to be the best she could possibly be. She always said, "you are only given what you can handle" and she lived that throughout her entire life. Her devotion to her daughter, Tanya Denise, was immeasurable. She gave her the best care that a mother and family could possibly offer and continued to raise her other 3 children as a stay-at-home mom.
After the loss of her husband in 1994 and daughter in 1995, Ida Mae had many "firsts" as the years went on. A first Milwaukee Brewers Game, Packer Game, Nasar Race and her first time on an airplane, for a trip to Colorado to see her son Al and his family. She wouldn't pass up an opportunity to have a shopping trip with her daughter Carla. Suddenly mom had a social life, meeting new people, creating new friendships, and reminiscing with some old ones. She loved going out to Cropsey's on State Street with her son Kevin and even at one point, joined a dart league. She loved making her grandson's laugh by "peeling her wheels" in her pickup truck as she departed from a visit. The grand kids enjoyed making paper ring garlands for her holiday decorations. She was an amazing cook, always treating everyone to her pumpkin pie, cookies, and pea soup.
Due to unfortunate events in late July 2021, the diagnosis of Alzheimer's Dementia, and the inability for her to live alone, Ida moved to Pulaski to live with Carla & Bill and their family.
Ida Mae truly was a selfless person, always putting the needs of others before her own and she will be deeply missed by her entire family.
Ida Mae is survived by her children Allen & Sheila Laubenstein Jr, Carla & William Crouse, Kevin & Shanon Laubenstein; grandchildren, Allen & Alycia Laubenstein III, Camren & Katie Crouse, Kylar Crouse & Erica Peters, Kaidan Crouse, Dakota Stascak, Sierra Laubenstein, Emerick & Hannah Petruska and Eric Petruska; great-grandchildren, Baker Murphy Laubenstein, Isabelle and Eddie Petruska. She also has one great-grand baby Crouse on the way in January 2024. She is further survived by her sister, Rosalie Calawerts; brother, Robert & Jean Hacker, her sisters-in-law, Mary Hacker, Sharon Whalen, Carol Rubens and Joan Laubenstein. As well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
