Heinz Nagel, 90, passed away on December 25, 2025 and witnessed a glorious Christmas morning with his Lord. A real fighter, he fought Parkinson's and heart disease for many years.
He was born on October 27, 1935 in Essen, Germany to Albert and Centa Nagel.
With courage and an indomitable spirit, Heinz immigrated from post-war Germany to the United States. Settling in St. Louis, Missouri, with his wife Christa and only child, Birgit. Heinz embraced his new country, going on to start his own small surgical instrument business and owning properties in St. Louis and his beloved Lake of the Ozarks. Boating was a favorite pastime.
He also came to love Wisconsin, visiting his daughter, son-in-law, and two grandsons in Green Bay.
Heinz's final nine years were spent at Bellevue Senior Living. We thank Deb Earnest, Stacy Stahl and the wonderful staff at Bellevue for their warmth and care. You are family! A special thanks to Tammy.
Heinz kept Parkinson's at bay for so long through exercise and we thank his physical therapists Shannon and Brea and his occupational therapists Lindsey and Cassandra at Powerback Rehab. Thanks to Dr. Cindy Lasecki for overseeing his care. A very special thank you to Michelle, and the other Home Instead carepros who helped him "stay home."
Heinz was preceded by his beloved wife of fifty-four years, Christa; parents, Albert and Centa; brother Alphonse; sisters, Ursula and Inge; brother-in-law, Horst. And special friend, Hope Maloney.
Heinz is survived by his loving family, daughter, Birgit (Jeff) Dierberg, grandsons Zach (Kristine) and J.T.; brother, Albert; nieces Sylvia and Ida; sister-in-law Gabi and dear friend Roger Van Ness. Though miles and oceans separated us, he always loved you.
Heinz loved animals, especially his many dogs. He enjoyed visits by Luna, Birgit's yellow lab and seeing pictures of Stella, the beautiful horse he gifted her.
"Daddy – you were the best dad ever. We got to spent so much time together – walking, exploring museums, taking drives to Lake Michigan, finding new coffee shops… miss you forever." Love, Birgit
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation (Parkinson.org)
