Harland Allen Merrell, 96, Hannibal, MO, formerly from Green Bay, WI, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024. He was born March 3, 1927, in Chicago, IL to Harland Sr. and Vyolette (Engel) Berger.

Harland graduated from East High School, Class of 1947. On May 16, 1953, he married Marilyn Ann Christensen at West Side Moravian Church. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2017.

Harland's career as a truck driver for the City of Green Bay was more than just a job; it was a way for him to serve the community he so loved. His dedication to his work was paralleled only by his commitment to his personal passion: the Green Bay Stamp Center. As the proud owner of this local storefront, Harland became a renowned figure among collectors alike. His expert knowledge of stamps and coins not only enriched his life but also the lives of those who shared his interests.

Harland's devotion to the Green Bay Packers was unwavering. He was among the hardy souls who braved the bitter cold to witness the historic Ice Bowl in 1967, an experience that remained one of his favorite tales to recount. His fandom was a thread that wove through his entire life, bringing him joy and camaraderie. Harland's zest for life was evident in his love for travel. His three trips to Hawaii were among his most cherished memories, especially the vacation he won, which he often regarded as one of his life's highlights. His sense of adventure also shone through in his fondness for television shows like "Pawn Stars" and "American Pickers," which mirrored his own love for collecting and the thrill of the hunt. Above all, Harland was a family man. His happiest moments were those spent in the company of his loved ones. His warm presence and infectious laughter were the heartbeat of every family gathering, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his children, Diane Merrell, Kenneth (Karen) Merrell, Douglas (Amy) Merrell; grandchildren, Andrew Merrell, Katie (Mitchell) Crane; great-grandchildren, Norah Merrell, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Merrell, Hudson Merrell, Millie Crane, and Harrison Crane; and his beloved nieces and nephews.

Harland was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; parents, Harland and Vyolette; sister, Priscilla Merrell; parents-in-law, Walter and Ada Christensen; siblings-in-law, Gerald (Carol) Christensen, Laverne (Lowell) Christianson.
