With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Geraldine Marie (Halada) Pagel, 89, Green Bay, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, after a six-year journey with Alzheimer's disease. Gerry was born on June 7, 1936 to Jack and Grace (LaBine) Halada in Tipler, Wisconsin.
She lived in Long Lake, WI until her marriage to Wayne R. Pagel on July 29, 1957 and together they resided in Green Bay. Gerry was a devoted mother to 3 children, all girls. As education was important to her, she attended Caroll College and graduated with an elementary education degree from St. Norbert College. She later furthered her education with additional classes at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Gerry became an elementary school teacher and taught 3rd grade at Lannoye Elementary School in Pulaski and Valley View in Ashwaubenon.
Gerry had an incredible memory and could still name the majority of her past students when looking at class pictures many years later. Even after Alzheimer's took over her mind, she would still act as a teacher to her class of imaginary students.
Gerry's hobbies and interests celebrated the love of her family. She was notorious for knitting sweaters and always seemed to have her yarn and knitting needles on hand. She specialized in adorable sweaters for her 5 grandchildren and 10 great- grandkids.
Gerry loved life on the lake and made many wonderful memories for us at the cottage on Long Lake. It is where she taught the grandkids to water ski, fish, and shoot BB guns. Later, they transferred lake life to Shawano Lake, where they treated many family and friends to relaxing pontoon boat rides, followed by her famous "Polish Drumsticks" dessert.
Gerry is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Wayne; children, Kim (Todd) Timmerman, Terri (Mike) Richardson and Lynn Pagel; grandchildren Nicholas (Nikki) Timmerman, Chris (Sara) Timmerman, Patrick (Caitlin) Timmerman, Tara Richardson and Ryan (Cytarah) Richardson; great-grandchildren Vincent Timmerman, Ryder Timmerman, Jack Timmerman, Nick Timmerman Jr., Beckett Timmerman, Aden Richardson, Aliza Richardson, Ahmad Richardson, Tahlia Richardson and Emerson Richardson. She is further survived by her sister, JoAnn "Gracie" (Dan) Hannigan; sisters-in-law, Linda and Cyndi Halada, Shirley and Nancy Pagel, and Sandy (Jerry) Klukow.
Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Marlene Carmitchell, Jacqueline Halada, Frances Halada, brothers John Halada, Larry Halada and Alan Halada.
Friends and family will gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., on Monday, July 7, from 10:00 am until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be at Allouez Catholic Cemetery. To send online condolences please go to, www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
