Geraldine "Gerry" Laws Gloss, 101, died on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Marla Vista Memory Care. She was born on April 30, 1914, in Bedford, IA, the daughter of L.E. and Nellie (Myers) Beard.

Gerry attended Bedford schools, graduating as Valedictorian of the Class of 1932. She completed two years at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, before getting married there on May 19, 1934 to Joe Laws, All-American football player for Iowa and now a member of the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame. Gerry and Joe lived in Green Bay during the football seasons and moved here permanently in 1940. Gerry was a longtime member of the Church of Christ.

They became parents of: Marjorie "Marge" Hummel, Anamosa, IA; James (Mary Lou) Laws, Chandler, AZ; Sally (Thomas) Gallagher, Green Bay; and Judith (George) Mares, Prescott Valley, AZ.

Gerry eagerly looked forward to grandchildren and was delighted to welcome eight of them: Amy, Kelley, and Joe Laws; Elisabeth and Kathryn "Katy" Hummel; Susan and Michael Mares and Bridget Gallagher. She also has 13 great-grandchildren.

Gerry was widowed when Joe died in 1979. Ten years later she married Dr. Ellis Gloss and moved to his home in St. Paul, MN. Gerry moved back to Green Bay after his death in 1993.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their spouses.

Gerry was preceded in death by her two husbands; a son-in-law, Richard Hummel; her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

A memorial fund has been established in Gerry's name.
