Gerald "Gerry" M. Mackenna Sr, 86, Green Bay, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025. He was born March 27, 1939, in Niagara Falls, New York to Vera (Fitzgerald) and George Mackenna Sr.
Gerry proudly served in the U.S. National Guard before starting his job at Michelin Tire. Gerry retired as Vice President of Pomp's Tire Service after 30 years. He enjoyed driving his Willys Jeeps and had a love for recreational flying. It was during flying lessons that he met his future wife Anne who was working at the airport. The two married in 1981. Gerry was the go-to guy for many things, he was very handy and if he didn't know how to fix it, he was still always willing to help. He enjoyed spending time at the cottage up north and spending winters in Arizona. Gerry was incredibly quick-witted and a practical joker. He was known for his dry sense of humor that could make anyone crack a smile.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 44 years, Anne; daughter, Christine Schroeder; son, Gerald M. Mackenna Jr.; grandchildren, Tyler Schroeder, Kyle (Danielle) Schroeder, and Hannah Schroeder; great-grandson, Brandon Grovogel; brother, George (Joanne) Mackenna Jr.; sisters, Marlene (Joe) Mercurio, Sharon Krug; brothers-in-law, Gary (Marge) Hermsen, Mike (Judy) Hermsen, Tom (Sue) Hermsen, Steve (Kathy) Hermsen, Ron (Lori) Hermsen, Pat (Mary) Hermsen, David Walder; sisters-in-law, Mary (Chris) Degner, Lisa (Rick) Van Den Heuvel; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Gerry was preceded in death by his parents, Vera and George Sr.; in-laws, Lorraine and Robert Hermsen; sister-in-law, Kathy Walder.
