George F. Wrobel, 94, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024. He was born February 12, 1929 in Morgan WI, to Felix and Anna (Jashek) Wrobel. George graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1947.  He was then drafted to the US Army where he coached a hockey team.  When George returned from the military and continued his education at the University of Denver where he also played hockey. On May 3, 1958 he married Marie T. LePage at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Marie passed away on Nov. 1, 1996. During his 50th class reunion he was reunited with Norma Rose (Noack) Wright.  They were married on June 12, 1999 and she preceded him in death on August 15, 2017.

George worked his way up to the shipping supervisor at Procter & Gamble Company, retiring in 1989.  George liked to spend time at White Potato Lake and Boundary Lake.  When he wasn't at the ice rink, he enjoyed golfing.

George started skating at the age of 6 and spent most of his life involved in hockey.  George was a right wing for the Green Bay Hornets and a linesman for the Bobcats.  George worked hard on creating the hockey program at Premontre where he coached for nine years.  He continued as the coach for St. Norbert.  George was an integral part of the Green Bay Bobcats program growth and was honored with a yearly tournament named after him at Cornerstone Community Center.  George was always available to support his fellow hockey families with coaching or refereeing. George was rewarded the awards from the Red Smith Sports Award, Hockey Hall of Fame, and Elks Club Recreational.  He also has a citation from the Wisconsin State Senate proclaiming February 12 as George Wrobel Day.

He is survived by his children, Paula Wrobel, Barbara (David) Heath, Debra (John) Girard, Linda (Edward) Kurowski, and Michael Wrobel; son-in-law, Joe Gress; 14 grandchildren, Nick, Eddie (Michelle), Emilie (Brad), Elliot (Sara), Maranda, Jillian, Robbie, Frankie, Johnnie, Chad (Gina) Roy, Dustin, Allison, Brett; 12 great-grandchildren, Gracie, Maddie, Amelia, Zoe, Mia, Megan, Casey, Becca, Lucy, Nolan, Lincoln, Georgie;  siblings, Gertrude Hallett; Lawrence (Brenda) Wrobel; sister-in-law, Elaine Wrobel; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie; his second wife, Norma; his daughter, Marcia; granddaughter, Jodi; siblings, Felix Wrobel, Florence (Edward) Cheslak, Robert Wrobel, Raymond (Margarite) Wrobel, Eleanor (Ray) Gille; brother-in-law, Robert Hallett.

Visitation will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., (The entrance is directly across from BP gas station on Glendale Ave.) from 10 a.m. to Noon on Friday, Jan. 12.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be at Noon Friday, Jan. 12 at the church with his Godson, Rev.
