With hearts heavy yet full of love, we announce the passing of George Whiting, a devoted father, proud grandfather, loving brother, cherished friend, and a man whose life touched countless hearts. George was called home on January 8, 2026, at the age of 69, and though our hearts ache, we trust that his spirit now walks in the Light of God, guided safely to reunion with those who went before him.

George was born on June 2, 1956, the first in his family, carrying from birth a spirit of strength, leadership, and generosity. From his earliest years, he reflected the promise of Psalm 127:3: "Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him." As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he poured love into his family, leaving a legacy of devotion, laughter, and guidance that will echo for generations.

A Life of Dedication, Laughter, and Passion:

George worked for many years at Larsen Cannery, side by side with his brothers, where his loyalty, dedication, and tireless work ethic were evident to all. He approached life and labor with the heart of Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." Every task he undertook, he completed with care, humor, and a quiet strength that inspired others.

Beyond his work, George's spirit thrived in his passions. Cars were his lifelong love-repairing, rebuilding, and restoring from his teenage years until his heart attack in 2015 slowed his hands but never dimmed his devotion. He found peace, purpose, and joy under the hood of a car, reminding us of Ecclesiastes 3:1: "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." George lived fully in each season of life, mastering his passions and teaching others the beauty of dedication.

George's kitchen was another place where his love and personality shone. Cooking was an art, a joy, and an act of care, filling hearts, and laughter. Psalm 104:14-15 reflects this spirit: "He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate-bringing forth food from the earth, wine to gladden the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread to strengthen man's heart." Through his hands, George brought life and comfort to all who gathered with him.

His humor and playful spirit were central to his life. George was a prankster and a jokester, loving laughter as deeply as love itself. Proverbs 17:22 reminds us: "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." George's cheerful heart was a medicine to everyone who knew him. Even in difficult times, he brought light, hope, and warmth.

Family, Love, and Companionship:

George was an extraordinary father and grandfather, taking immense pride in his children and grandchildren. He embodied Psalm 128:3-4: "Your children will be like olive shoots around your table. May you see your children's children." He did not just see them-he guided them, loved them fiercely, and shaped lives with care, devotion, and patience.

He was the ex-husband of Tamera Whiting, and even after their marriage ended decades ago, they shared a life together living, splitting bills, building a home, and supporting one another. Their companionship reflected Romans 12:10: "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves."

George is preceded in death by his grandparents, Francis Dell Gokey and George Lee Gokey; his father, Winslow Whiting; his mother, Jacqueline Whiting; his brothers, Troy Whiting and Loren Whiting.

He leaves behind his loving sister, Dell Whiting; his brothers, Jesse Whiting and Paul Whiting; his four children, Jeremy Whiting, Adam Whiting, Kevin Whiting, and Amber Whiting; beloved grandchildren, Mia VanLaanen, Hailey VanLaanen, Jeremy Whiting Jr., Castiel Whiting, Christina Whiting, and Samantha Whiting; his cherished great-grandchildren, Oaklyn VanLaanen, Brelynn VanLaanen, and Kayloni Whiting.

Spirit, Passions, and Symbols of Freedom:

George's spirit soared like the eagles he loved, symbolizing freedom, vision, and God's protection. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." We imagine George now lifted by God's hand, gliding into the Light, free and at peace.

He loved music, laughter, and the joy of life. Elvis Presley, Cheech and Chong, and good company were sources of inspiration and delight. Psalm 16:11 says: "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." George has now reached that path of life, guided by God, where joy knows no end.

Guiding His Spirit Across:

We release George's spirit with confidence, knowing God has prepared a place for him. John 14:2-3 assures us: "In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me."

We pray that he is reunited with his grandparents, parents, brothers, and all loved ones who passed before him. 2 Corinthians 5:8: "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." George is now home.

Even in the transition of life to eternal rest, Psalm 23:4 comforts us: *"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."

I love you dad. This one really hits different; I miss you so much. To think you're not here any more hurts. I love you, please continue to come visit me like you have been. I love you pops.
