Gary Lee Gilsoul, Sr, age 80 of Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 19, 2026. Gary was born on August 7, 1945, to George and Bernice (Fraire) Gilsoul. Gary was a graduate of East High School, Class of 1964 in Green Bay. After graduation he served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army in Vietnam. On February 16, 1974, he married the love of his life Vicky L. VanCaster and they spent over 52 years raising their family and making a home. He was employed with Schneider National Trucking for 32 years as a semi-trailer mechanic until his retirement.
Gary's family was his life. He loved time with his grandchildren, decorating and celebrating holidays, and family get-togethers. When his children were young, he chaperoned for school events and cheered for them in extracurricular activities. He was an avid Packers fan and enjoyed classic westerns, Steven Seagal movies and comedies. Two of his favorite places to visit were Culvers and Walmart. Gary was also a collector of sports memorabilia, knives and model trains.
He is survived by his wife Vicki, son Gary Gilsoul, Jr of Green Bay, daughter Candy (Chris) Cody of Oconto, son Jeremy (sp friend Cynthia Lee) Gilsoul of Washington, son Michael (Amanda) Gilsoul of Green Bay, grandchildren Courtney (fiancé Dwight Pettibone) Grinde of DeForest, Jada (Caden) White of Sun Prairie, Dylan Gilsoul of Green Bay, Aidan Gilsoul of Washington, and Cynthis Lee's daughter Carter Reign Eide of Washington, several great-grandchildren, Vicki's sister Nancy and Mike Gauthier as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather Charlie, brother George Gilsoul Jr., sisters Mary Jane Gilsoul, Joyce and Edward Cooney Sr., Carol and Raymond Zimmerman, Sharon and Gerald Walker, Donna and Jim Vandenack, Patricia and Dale Lax and 2 very special dogs, Cotton and Brownie.
There will be a gathering in celebration of Gary's life on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Blaney Funeral Home in Green Bay. There will be a memorial service for Gary on Saturday evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home followed by full military honors.
The family would like to thank all the first responders who cared for Gary at his home when he passed. Also, a thank you to the fine people at Blaney Funeral Home for helping care for Gary and his family. Also thank you to Gary's niece Michelle Gauthier for helping us care for both Gary and Vicki. Gary's son-in-law Chris J. Cody of Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Homes is honored to care for Gary.
Gary was a proud veteran, and the family would like to request that you thank a veteran for their service in his memory.
