Francis "Frank" Millard Bonney, 74, De Pere, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023. He was born January 30, 1948, in Sturgeon Bay, WI to Millard Charles and Mary Julia (Cihlar) Bonney.


Frank was raised Catholic; he was one of eleven children. He grew up on the family farm in Sturgeon Bay. Frank graduated from Sevastopol High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army as an airplane mechanic and was stationed in Vietnam from 1968 to 1971. Frank joined the Air Force Reserves and was also a recreational pilot, flying for a number of years with his own airplane. He worked at Green Bay Metropolitan Sewer District as an industrial mechanic. Later in life Frank went to Lakeland University and obtained his Bachelors of Business Administration. He was an avid traveler and hiker. Frank hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, Appalachian Trail but was most proud of his hike of the Camino de Santiago. He started in France, ending in Spain after a journey of over 500 miles. Along his hikes and travels he met many lifelong friends. Frank enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers. Frank was an avid golfer and enjoyed going on golf outings with friends.  He also found great joy in restoring a vintage Allis-Chalmers tractor and his childhood dream car - a 1965 Ford Mustang. He loved woodworking in his shop, where he created beautiful pieces of art for family and friends. Frank had two children and loved being a grandpa.


He is survived by his children, Al (Lin-Wei) Bonney, Karen (Jeff) Klein; grandchildren, Josephine, Amelia, Reuben (Lisa), Austin, Laura, Carter, Samantha; siblings, Jack Bonney, Barb Lauta, Betty Brzezinski, Terry Bonney, Margaret (Leon) Harris, Madonna Lyon, Mark (Kristie) Bonney; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.


Frank was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pat (Joseph) Scharich; brothers, Tom Bonney, Joey Bonney; brothers-in-law, Mike Lauta, Clarence Brzezinski, Mike Lyon.


Friends and family will gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 29; Funeral Service to follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Sturgeon Bay. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com .


In lieu of flowers or plants, a memorial fund has been established in Frank's name.
