Elmer Dotz, 98, Green Bay, joined his wife in heaven on Thursday, August 24, 2023. He had been living at Woodside Lutheran Home in Green Bay since October of 2022.

Elmer was born December 12, 1924, the fifth son of Alex and Amelia Dotz. He grew up in Sheboygan and attended Trinity Lutheran School where he began his lifelong friendship with Paul Goldberg. Elmer graduated from Central High School in 1943 and immediately joined the U.S. Air Force. He served as an airplane mechanic from 1943 until 1946 and was stationed in Belgium. Elmer was very proud to celebrate his service on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. when he was 87 years old.

He married his sweetheart, Doris Mae Diehl on June 20, 1953. Together they enjoyed 54 years of marriage before Doris passed in 2007. They enjoyed their neighborhood friendships, Packer games, and traveling all over the world together. Through the years they loved their family of collies and had a total of seven collies in their lives. Elmer was employed by Uarco Business Forms and American Chickle. He was a lifelong Packer ticket holder, not missing a game at Lambeau until his later years. After Dorie's passing, Elmer enjoyed winters in Naples, FL and summers spent fishing, boating, and enjoying the Northwoods of Tomahawk, WI and the UP of Michigan. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Green Bay.

His loves were his pet collies, his family and friends, fishing for "the big one", happy hour Manhattans with his buddies, and enjoying living life to the fullest well into his nineties. Elmer was an exceptional role model and will be remembered for his kindness and generosity.

He leaves behind nieces and nephews; Lois DeMeyer, Kathy Dotz, Sandy Clevenger, Susan Trudgeon, Mary Lou Dotz, Kristine (Joe) Lamb, Michael Dotz, Robert (Pat) Dotz, James (Chris) Dotz, Tom Dotz, Richard Dotz, Lawrence Dotz; good friend, Bob Lane; and many other special friends.

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife Doris; parents, Alex and Amelia; brothers, Wally (Beattie) Dotz, Alex (Hermina) Dotz, Julius (Sophie) Dotz, Eddie (Bernice) Dotz; nieces, Judith Dotz-Quintana, Margaret Dotz Reindl; nephews, Mark Dotz, Steve Dotz; and sister-in-law Shirley Schneider; and seven beloved collies.

Friends and family will gather at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 S Oneida St., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 31; Service to follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Pett officiating. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Kohler, WI. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.

Elmer's family wishes to extend a special thank you to his best friend Bob Lane and the guys who enjoyed "happy hour" with him. A thank you to the staff at Woodside Lutheran Home for the tender and loving care Elmer received while residing there.
