Elizabeth Mary "Betty" Heling, 87, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2023. She was born February 3, 1936, in Abrams, WI to John Sr. and Stella (Rzatkiewicz) Nowak.
Betty moved to Green Bay as a young woman to pursue her dreams. She was a hard worker and one of the first women employed by Packerland Packing. Betty went on to work at the former American Can Company (now Georgia-Pacific) for many years until her retirement. She did all this while raising her family. Betty was a dedicated and determined woman, both at her job and at home. If she wasn't working hard at home she was working hard at work. She was always putting others' needs before herself. Betty loved to cook for her family and friends. Every meal was a big meal and holidays were always a feast, complete with drinks and a lot of laughs. She made sure no one went home hungry and was dedicated to serving others. Betty enjoyed working in the yard, tending her flowers, watching the birds, camping in Sugar Camp, WI and playing with her kitties. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and traveling with her sister, Esther.
She is survived by her children, Craig (Lori) Bubnik, Steve (Teri) Bubnik, Barb (Jeff) Uecker; grandchildren, Chris Paape, Lacy Van Laanen, Tyler Bubnik, Adam (Tammy) Brault, Brittney (Rich) Peters, Tasha (Bret) Cook, Cody Uecker, Ava Uecker; nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Tony Nowak of Green Bay, WI; sister, Virginia (Jack) LeMere of Woodruff, WI; mother to Lacy and special friend to Betty, Julie Van Laanen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
