Edward "Ed" Fredrick Wagner, 96, Green Bay, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2026. He was born November 5, 1929, in Waukesha, WI to Edward Sr. and Winifred (Bothe) Wagner.
Ed enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. On October 15, 1955, he married Shirley Dighera in Green Bay and together they had four children. He was a longtime employee of Green Bay Paper Converting. During his retirement he enjoyed volunteering at the Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul. Ed volunteered there for over 30 years and loved volunteering as a family. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and found happiness with his faith and in nature. In the Northwoods he had a place lovingly named "the shack". Ed would stay there as often as he could, working on various improvements. So many of his kids and in-laws helped him build and improve the shack. Being in the woods brought Ed so much happiness and he loved to take walks with his dogs through the woods. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ed was always a happy man and he loved his family who were the source of most of his joy.
He is survived by his children, Barbara (Michael) Bootz, Julie (Steve) Bartels, Fran (Cathy) Wagner, Wendi (Dave) Hansen; nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brother, James (Beverly) Wagner; sister-in-law, Therese Wagner; all of his upper Michigan family, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents, Edward Sr. and Winifred; brother, Robert "Bob" Wagner; great-grandchild, Isabella Burrows.
Per Ed's wishes private family services will be held. Burial will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
