Edward T. “Ed” Nugent, 80, Green Bay, peacefully passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026. Ed was born on December 2, 1945 in Stevens Point, WI to Ray and Isabelle (Brill) Nugent.
He graduated from Pacelli High School. On December 26, 1966, he married Mary Debban at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stevens Point, while Ed was on leave from the Army before he was deployed to Vietnam, where he earned a Purple Heart. They then moved to Green Bay in 1973 and lived in their lifelong home where they raised their 10 children. At that home, they also fostered children for over 25 years. Ed was a devoted father, husband and man of faith; him and Mary would go on date nights once a week and always made sure that he attended his children's games and concerts. He taught religious education and was a member of St. Agnes for over 50 years.
Ed worked at Wisconsin Bell for 39 years before retiring at 62 years old. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He shared a special bond with his sister, Pat, and her husband John. He went on many hunting trips with John for over 60 years. Many cherished memories were made at their cabin, "Nugent's Nest", which they built themselves with friends over 40 years ago. Ed felt the happiest when he was up north and carrying on family traditions. Some of these traditions were Sunday dinners, bringing his children to breakfast on the morning of their birthdays and making hundreds of Ponzkas.
