Edward "Ted" Austin Burns, 92, Green Bay, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025. He was born December 10, 1932, in Shullsburg, WI to Austin and Mary "Lyda" (Dailey) Burns.

Ted graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1951 and UW - Platteville in 1955. He began teaching science and chemistry. Ted then went on to earn a master's degree in science from Northern Michigan University. He retired in 1992 from Southwest High School in Green Bay. Ted married Maxine Miller in 1984. The days were never long enough for Ted to fit in all his interest. He loved to travel, be out in nature, camping, birding (he knew hundreds of birds by name, sound, and configuration), and photographing birds, scenery, and flowers. He was an awesome tennis player and loved biking, hiking, and dancing. Quiet times were for reading, journaling, TV: football and basketball especially the Packers and Wisconsin, political, financial, and science programs. He had a wonderful thirst for knowledge.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maxine; his children, Jeffry Burns, and Lisa Lau; grandchildren, Garrett Lau (Kelly) and Paisley, Aaron Lau, Halley Lau; his wife's children, Suzan Landry, and Sandra Lloyd (Jeffrey); grandchildren, Jade Landry (Deanna), and Cole Kroitzsch, and Taylor (Madison), Jeffrey, and Ada, and Austin and Spencer; three special nieces, Suzi Herbst, Vicki Redfern, Joanie VonGlahn (Willie); dear friend, Steven Krings (Margaret); other relatives and friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Lyda; siblings, Josephine, Charles, Elaine, John; daughter-in-law, Sandy Burns.

Special thank you to family and friends, especially Steve Krings, Suzi Herbst, Jade and Deanna Landry for their support and friendship over the years. Heartfelt thanks to Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion.
