Edmund F. Chevalier, loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle passed away peacefully Saturday, June 7, 2008, at his home. He was born May 26, 1920, in Virginia, Minn., to the late Telesphore and Odile (Champeau) Chevalier. He moved to Green Bay as a child and later graduated from East High School in 1940. During World War II, Ed served in the U.S. Army Air Corps with the 324th Fighter group, the 316th Fighter Squadron (Hell's Belles) and had been stationed in North Africa, Italy and France. Upon returning home from the War, Mr. Chevalier enrolled in the University of Wisconsin. On May 10, 1947, he married Margaret Kelliher in Green Bay. He was a member of the Baylanders Barbershop Chorus for over 50 years and was an original member of the Four Clips Barbershop Quartet. Mr. Chavalier had been employed as an engineer for many years and retired in 1982 after working for 25 years at Paper Converting Machine Co. Ed had a clever wit and dry sense of humor. Years ago, he was involved in Community Theater and had the comic lead in the musical "Naughty Marietta".

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret; seven children and their spouses, Gordy (Kathy) Chevalier, De Pere; David (Patti) Chevalier, Maui, Hawaii; Cathy Chevalier and her husband, Tom Berzinski, Green Bay; Patrick Chevalier, Green Bay; John (Lynn) Chevalier, Burnsville, Minn.; Ed Jr. (Laurie) Chevalier, Green Bay; Amy (Dino) Efantis, Cheverly, Md.; 17 grandchildren, Anmarie (Matt) Meeuwsen, Jenny Chevalier, Sarah (Troy) Williquette, Matt Chevalier (Tammy Roffers), Aaron Chevalier (Peggy VanPay), Luke Chevalier (Jolene Dalebroux), Malia Chevalier, Emilie Smith (Barry Kalpinski), John Chevalier Jr., Meg Chevalier, Alex Hall, Dylan Chevalier, Eric Chevalier, Alyson Chevalier, KiKi Efantis, Theo Efantis and Catherine Efantis; eight great-grandchildren, Sarah and Patrick Meeuwsen, Cody Chevalier, Dylan, Alec, Sam and Sophie Williquette, Paige Chevalier; one sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor (George) Schneider, Marshfield, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Chevalier, Green Bay; numerous special nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Mary Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael; his brothers, Elmer, Emil and Adelore Chevalier; his sisters, Jeanne Johnson, Leona Donovan, Clarice Olson; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, John Kelliher, Byron Shaw, Evelyn Shaha, Patricia Murphy, Mary Zita Watson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Catherine Kelliher.

Friends may call at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1420 Division St., from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Andrew Kysely officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
