Duane L. Seppa, 94, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025. He was born January 15, 1931 to Walter and Margaret (Lagon) Seppa.
Duane grew up in Monaco, WI and graduated from Three Lakes High School in 1950. Duane then went on to school in Minneapolis to study telegraphy and accounting. After this six-month course, he was hired by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in 1951. He worked all around northern Wisconsin. On October 2, 1954, he married Vida Rand at a Lutheran Church in Eagle River. They resided in Wausau, Eagle River, and Antigo before settling in Green Bay. Duane worked for the railroad for 41 years and retired as a train dispatcher, which is the railroad's version of an air traffic controller. After retirement, Duane and Vida loved to travel by car visiting 44 states and Canada. They always had a canine companion and Boston Terriers were their breed of choice. Duane was an avid follower of the Packers, Brewers, and anything Badgers. He was actually at the Ice Bowl. Duane also enjoyed golfing, fish-frys with neighbors, snowmobiling, and fishing. His favorite place to eat was the Bay Restaurant where all the staff knew him and he would meet up with friends almost every day.
Duane is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Theresa Seppa, Washburn, WI; a grandson, Alan Seppa, Washburn, WI; his brother, Dale and Carol Seppa, Menomonie, WI; his sister, Rosie and Ben Sword, Rhinelander, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
