Douglas "Doug" Ross Bezier, 88, Howard, formerly of Peshtigo, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023. He was born June 7, 1934, in Pembine, WI to Elmer and Inez (Mattison) Bezier.

Doug was born and raised Catholic. He graduated from Pembine High School, Class of 1952. Doug played any and all sports. In 1951 he won the Peshtigo Times M-O Conference MVP. He went to college at UW – Oshkosh, where he played football as a quarterback. He graduated with his masters from Northern Michigan. On October 1, 1955 he married Barbara LeClair in Niagara, WI. Together they had three beautiful children. Doug was a teacher; he primarily taught history and Driver's ED. Doug taught in Pembine from 1958-1962 and coached football and basketball. He moved to Peshtigo in 1963 and taught at the high school until 1995. He retired in Suamico in 1996 but continued to be a substitute teacher at Pulaski schools. Even when he was not actively teaching in schools, he always taught lessons to his children and grandchildren; he was a teacher through and through.

Doug was a very practical man, he knew how to save a penny or two, a skill he learned from his humble beginnings. He gave the best hugs and made sure his children never went without. He was a very dedicated and involved dad and papa. He was a loving man with a generous and kind heart, and he adored all of his grandchildren and showered them with love. Doug was very proud of his lawn and taking care of the grass. He loved to golf and golfed into his 80's. He was a huge Wisconsin sports fan, for any and all sports.

He is survived by wife of 67 years, Barbara; children, Dr. Jeffrey (Donna) Bezier, Pamela (Curt) Swanson, John (Carrie) Bezier; grandchildren, Megan (Marc) Keyser, Kristen (Thomas) McNally, Courtney (Ben) Baeb, Lauren (Juan) Suarez Baron, Greg (Kelly) Bezier, Kaitlin (Max Dallman) Bezier, Rachel (Eric) Giese, Kevin (Katelyn) Bezier, Kelsey (Devin) Graf, Ross Bezier; 21 great-grandchildren with two on the way; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Inez; siblings, Claude Bezier, Bertie Shafer, Alton Bezier.

Friends and family will gather at SS. Edward & Isidore Catholic Church, 3667 Flintville Rd., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 28; Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. with Fr.
