The Lord needed another Marine to stand guard at the Pearly gates and he took the best one.

Douglas Rosenberg, 75, Pulaski, died Thursday, June 28, 2018. He was born on August 26, 1942, in Abrams to the late Norbert and Dorothy (Blaser) Rosenberg.

Douglas graduated from Oconto Falls High School, Class of 1960, and after school he entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1961. He was an aircraft electrician who serviced the F4B Phantoms on board the USS Ranger, the USS Midway and the USS John F. Kennedy. Doug also was in the Bay of Pigs Crisis off the coast of Cuba and was honorably discharged in 1966.

Upon his discharge, he started his career in the meat industry and was so proud when he became a USDA Federal Meat Inspector, from which he retired on December 31, 2006.

Doug married the former Barbara Aerts on August 31, 1968 and would have celebrated their 50 ^th anniversary together this year. Together they had three lovely children, Michelle, Christopher and Jennifer.

He loved to golf, even though his scores did not reflect it. Doug was also an avid hunter, fisherman and NHRA drag racing fan. He appreciated bird watching and doing word finds. Doug enjoyed the outdoors even if it was just sitting outside on the deck at the house, with his wife or spending the summers going up north to their cottage. Doug was very proud to be able to say that he was present at The Ice Bowl with his good buddy, Ron Sefcik.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Barbara (Aerts) Rosenberg; children, Michelle (Rick Larson) Rosenberg, Christopher (Denise) Rosenberg and Jennifer Rosenberg; grandchildren Zach, Nic, Jennifer, Cody and Emily; great grandchildren Isaac and Alexis; siblings Jeanne Wroblewski, Judy (Kelly) Steffens, Dennis (Chris) Rosenberg, Gary (Judy) Rosenberg, Bonnie DeWitt, Kathy (Ray) VanVonderen and Carol (Tom) Thiel and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Dorothy (Blaser) Rosenberg, and a brother David Rosenberg.

Douglas's family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice and special care giver J.J. and Reverend David Hoffman for all their kindness and support during this difficult time.

Friends may call at SS. Edward and Isidore Catholic Church, 3667 Flintville Rd., from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Visitation will continue at the church from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family.
