Dorothy L. "Dottie" Klysen, 98, Green Bay, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025. The daughter of the late Louis and Antoinette (VandeZande) Crabb was born on November 8, 1926, in Green Bay.
Dorothy was a graduate of West High School, Class of '44. She would go on to cosmetology school in 1945 and enjoyed a lifelong career as a beautician, beginning at Christine Beauty Salon before opening Dorothy's Beauty Salon on Gray St.
On August 16, 1947, Dorothy was united in marriage to Ted Klysen at Annunciation Catholic Church where they were charter members. Following their wedding service, they were surprised with a horse and buggy outside of church that took them on an unforgettable ride down Dousman St., over the Main St. bridge to Washington St., and then over the Walnut Street bridge before bringing them back to church. He preceded her in death in 1994. Dorothy's greatest love in life was her family and friends. She felt very blessed to have so many dear friends who gave her great joy through their friendship.
Dorothy was reunited with Patrick Drury at their 50th high school reunion. He would move back to Green Bay, and the two remained dear friends. Pat passed away in 2012.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Susan (Tom) Cieslewicz, Julie Hanson; sister-in-law, Angie Piontek; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
In addition to her husband Ted, Dorothy was preceded by her parents; son-in-law, Scott Hanson; sister, Cecile (Ernest) Buth; brothers, George (Catherine) Crabb, Norman (Luella) Crabb; brothers-in-law, John (Veronica) Klysen, Hank (Shirley) Klysen, Cy Piontek; sisters-in-law, Jane (Ralph) Donarski, Ann (Toby) Wetli.
Friends and Family will gather at Annunciation Catholic Church, 401 Gray St., on Friday, January 31, from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Eric Ondieki officiating. To send online condolences, please visit www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dorothy's name.
Special thank you Kim Pinchard for her loving care given to Dorothy to help keep her at home, as well as to Mary DeNamur who styled Dorothy's hair for many years. A special thank you is also extended to Jack and Terri Timmers for brightening up Dorothy's days.
Mom, we will cherish and treasure every moment we spent together. We love you and we will miss you.
