Dorothy M. (Heroux) Merline, 96, Green Bay, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024. She was born October 31, 1928, in Oconto to Joseph and Mary (Tucker) Heroux.


Dorothy was the youngest of nine children. She married John R. Merline on June 10, 1950 at St. Joseph's Church in Oconto. Dorothy attended St. Joseph's grade school and graduated from Oconto High School in 1946. At the time of their marriage John and Dorothy moved to Green Bay where they raised their five children. Dorothy worked for the HC Prange Co. in the China department for 19 years and retired in 1990. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and going out to eat. Dorothy and John were members of St. Joseph's since 1959. She did volunteer work for the Quad Parishes and sang in the St. Joseph's funeral choir. Dorothy was very strong in her faith and devoted catholic and she always started her day by praying the rosary.


She is survived by her five children and their spouses, John and Barb Merline, Julie and Michael Mortier, Laurie Merline and Don Wegner,  Steve and Sarah Merline, Tom Merline and Jeff Stannard; eleven grandchildren, Kristi (Bryan), Amy (Peter), Katie (Craig), Adam and Ryan (Heather), Amanda (Mike), Erin, Maleah (Colin), Lexie (Tyler), Cally (C.J.) and Addie;  17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, and nephews; and also special friends, Robert and Linda Merline, Gerrie Kaye, Tom and Diane Phillips, Carol Rebarchek.


Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John; her parents; brothers, Paul and Mary Heroux, Joseph and Christina Heroux, Bernard and Elizabeth Heroux, Vincent and Florence Heroux, Francis and Audrey Heroux, and Robert Heroux who was killed in World War II, and by two sisters, Mary and Mose Belleau and Helen and Bill Murphy.

Visitation will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, corner of Ninth St. and 12th Ave., Green Bay, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, December 27.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Dorothy's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the many compassionate caregivers of McCormick Assisted Living for the loving and comforting care given to Dorothy during her two year stay, especially to Fr. Willie Van De Loo for his visits. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Unity Hospice, especially Ashley and Nikki, for all their comforting care given to Dorothy and her family.


Dorothy was a very spiritual, kind and wonderful soul that will truly be missed by all that loved her.
