Donald Carl Schnasa, 88 passed away in Shawano, WI on Monday, January 27, 2025.

He was born May 12, 1936.

Donald's life was marked by his faith as a lifelong Lutheran and his love for his family's German heritage.

He excelled in music from a young age, earning first place in solo trumpet at Wisconsin state music competitions during his time at Pulaski High School.

His love for music continued throughout his life, playing trumpet in various polka bands.

Donald proudly served in the Air Force, a testament to his commitment and service to the country.

In his work life, he was deeply rooted in the family tradition of farming at the family homestead in Kunesh and had a long career in truck driving, retiring at the age of 80.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church from birth where he worshipped with his family and extended family and community members.

Despite facing health challenges like dementia and respiratory illnesses in his later years, Donald's love of music never waned.

Donald leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years, Nancy (nee Brusewitz) Schnasa; children, Cindy (David) Jacobsen, Kim (Jeffrey) Schnasa Coulthurst, Christy Bries, and Paul Schnasa; grandchildren, Christian, Grace, Christopher, Charlie, Jaime, Andrea, Tiara, and Cordell; great-grandchild, Trennen; sisters-in-law, Carol May, Sharon Felker, and Jeanette Schnasa Caster; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ida Schnasa; sister, Gertrude Seiltz; and brother, Harold Schnasa.

Friends and family will gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 1; Service to follow at 11 a.m. Graveside celebration will be conducted at a future date. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.

Our gratitude to the wonderful care given by the staff of Birch Hill Health Services and the Heartland Hospice staff who made this journey easier and especially to his niece and godchild, Carol Acha- Morfaw for her unwavering care and visits.
