Donald G. "Bucco" Mercier, 90, Hobart, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024. The son of the late Edward and Mildred (Topel) Mercier was born on October 8, 1933, in Green Bay.
Don was a graduate of Green Bay West High School, Class of '51. Following high school, Bucco enlisted in the US Army. He was stationed in Germany in 1954 as a mechanic until he was honorably discharged in 1956. After returning to Green Bay, Don met the former Kay Bundy. They were united in marriage on October 6, 1972, at Calvary Lutheran Church. They shared over 50 amazing years together. They enjoyed snowmobiling and spending time outdoors, especially up north. Don worked as an electrician for Wisconsin Public Service. After 35 years of faithful service, Bucco retired in 1995 on Halloween. In his younger years, Don enjoyed golfing, bowling, and hunting. He had a deep appreciation for cars, especially Thunderbirds, and would be like a kid in a candy store looking at new cars on the lot.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Kay; daughter, Lori (Don) Bowers; grandson, Ryan (Jennifer) Blaser; great grandchildren, Lincoln, Evangeline, Theodore; special nephew, Larry (Kay) Mercier; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Bucco was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Eugene (Sally) Mercier, Ellis (Audrey) Mercier; two infant sisters; as well as his in-laws, Ray and Babe Bundy.
As per Don's wishes, family held private services at Shrine of The Good Shepherd Mausoleum. To send online condolences, please visit www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com. To send a card to Don's family, please mail to Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave. Green Bay, WI 54303 with attention to the family of Donald Mercier.
