With sad and grateful hearts we wanted to advise that our Mother, Sister, Grandma and Aunt has passed away March 24, 2023.

Dona (DeLair) Stankevitz was born April 22, 1933 in Green Bay, WI.  She married Orv Stankevitz August 23, 1950 by a justice of the peace, and they enjoyed 54 years together.  They had six children, 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Her passions were hummingbirds, gardening, swimming, bowling and fishing with her favorite son, Dan.  She enjoyed her Tuesday breakfast at the pancake place with her family.  Dona was a stay-at-home mom and when Orv retired, she found work at Western Bowling Alley. She worked there until it closed.

In 1970 they bought a cottage on White Potato Lake, where many great memories were made.

These past three years she lived with dementia.  She could not remember many things but always knew her daughter, Sandy.  Her eyes would always light up when Sandy brought her great grandson, Jameson, to visit.  They would stroll him through the halls and stop by anybody and everybody and she would say "meet my great grandson" she would look at Sandy and say, "What's his name?" (repeatedly).  But she always remembered the words to the songs she would sing to him. Her favorites were Clementine and You are My Sunshine.

While at Tender Hearts, Jessie, the cook, took a special liking to mom and went above and beyond her duties to love and care for our mom.

Dona will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sandy Murphy. Sandy's son's Lucas and Max. Max's wife, Lauren and their son, Jameson. Her son, Dan Stankevitz, his wife Karen,  Daugthers Emily (Alec) Hagaman and their children Adley and Paxton Hagaman.  Katie (Sam) Henningsen and their son Emerick.   Her grandson, Jimmer Derouin, his wife Tonia and children, Nora, Quinn and Lena.  Her granddaughter Angela Derouin. Her siblings, Marcia (Ken) Watters, Annie (Dave) Guelig, Steve (Harriet) DeLair, and Mary Dokey.  And many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Orv.  Her mom and dad, Dolly and Don DeLair. Brothers Eddie, Greg and Paul DeLair.  Sisters Susie Lardnois and Ellie Laluzerne and her favorite son in law, Dan (Murph) Murphy, who kept her in check as best that anyone could.

Friends and family will gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 26; A Sharing of Memories will follow at 3 p.m.  To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com .
