Delton Lynn Bongel, 72, Green Bay, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023. He was born December 2, 1950, in Kewaunee to Edward and Mildred (Miller) Bongel.

Delton lived in the city of Kewaunee until the age of nine. The family then moved to a farm in rural Forestville. Delton was active in Lutheran Pioneers, FFA, and 4H earning numerous awards including Most Outstanding Boy of Kewaunee County and the American Farmer Degree presented in Kansas City, KS. He married Katherine Karnopp on July 21, 1974 at Faith Lutheran Church in Green Bay. After a farm fire they moved to Green Bay and started working at Gold Bond – Ice Cream in the maintenance department. He also worked at Meg-Tec Systems as a welder and later as an industrial electrician. Delton was active at Redeemer Lutheran Church serving on the board of trustees as a member and chairman, and board of Elders, also, as a member and chairman. His favorite job was after his retirement working as a driver for Broadway Ford.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine; children, K. Jessica Bongel, Delton (Molly) Bongel, Edward (Christie) Bongel, Matthew (Christine) Bongel, David (Shannon) Bongel; grandchildren, Bailey Ariana, Cameron, Margaret, William, Eloise, Isabella, Henry, Makayla; brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Patricia) Karnopp, David (fiancée, Mary) Karnopp, Roger (special friend, Julia) Karnopp; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Delton was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mildred; stepfather Richard Englebert, brothers, Edward Charles II and Darwin (Ann) Bongel; parents-in-law, Lester and Katherine Karnopp; sisters-in-law, Julie Karnopp and Patricia Karnopp.

Friends and family will gather at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 S Oneida St., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 6; Funeral Service to follow at 11 a.m. The burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.  To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com .
