David Harland Nelson, 83, Green Bay, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026. He was born September 11, 1942, in Madison to Harland and Velma (Larsen) Nelson.

David married Marilyn Jonet in 1965 and raised five loving children together. David was a respected Army veteran and worked for Bay West Paper for many years. He enjoyed country music and watching westerns; especially Gunsmoke and liked to try his hand at virtual military games on the computer. David cherished family time and loved fishing. He was a man of simple pleasures and enjoyed his sweets and a good McDonald's hamburger. You could always make him happy with a Hershey's chocolate bar.

He is survived by his children, Carie (Brad) Schumacher, Shelly (Jim) Wendricks, Sherry (Luke) Van Den Plas, David Nelson Jr.; grandchildren, Zachary, Alyssa, Alexander, Matthew, Conner; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Jillean; parents, Harland and Velma; sister, Arlen Berstein.

Friends and family will gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 12; Service to follow at 10:00 AM. Entombment will be at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com .
