Cletus Laabs, 89, Green Bay, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024. He was born November 28, 1934, in Little Suamico to Carl and Mary (Prodell) Laabs.
Cletus grew up on the family farm and attended Cottonwood School. He married Evelyn Gillis on May 10, 1958 and she preceded him in death on December 25, 2022. Cletus was a hard worker and retired from his long-term employment at Green Bay Drop Forge. Cletus cared for people and animals. He would mow not only his own lawn but many of the neighbors' yards as well as snowblowing many of the neighbors' driveways. He would spoil all his "adopted" dogs throughout the years. He also enjoyed feeding the deer, birds, and especially the baby fox in his backyard. He was most comfortable doing for others and watching the wildlife in his yard. When he wasn't caring for his neighbors or local animals, he enjoyed taking trips to Florida to visit his daughter and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary (Bill) Borremans, Florida, Lori Zaskey, Green Bay; grandchildren, Nicole Borremans, Alabama, Mike (Katie) Borremans, Florida, Sara Borremans (special friend Rob Johnston), Florida, Ben (Kayla) Kurowski, Green Bay, Krystal (Eric) Monahan, Florida; siblings, Roy Laabs, great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Laabs, brother-in-law, James Gillis; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Cletus was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; parents, Carl and Mary; siblings, Bob (Phyllis) Laabs, Donald Laabs, Sharon (Jay) Phillips; son-in-law: Gary Zaskey (and his daughter Kelley Casbourne); parents-in-law, William and Ursula Gillis; siblings-in-law, Carol Laabs, Raymond (Betty) Gillis, Charles (Joyce) Gillis, Russell (Cleo) Gillis, Marie (Bill) Billodeau, Lorraine (Dick) Lindbo.
