Claudene Claire Tomlinson, 62, Sobieski, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 30, 1964, to Frank Baker Jr. and Adele Gondek.
Claudene graduated from West Iron County High School in 1982, following that, she married her high school sweetheart Dave Tomlinson on July 30, 1983, in Caspian, MI. She enjoyed scrapbooking, making beautiful cards and photography. She loved taking pictures of sunsets and sharing them nightly with her siblings. She and Dave would go on nature walks together. Claudene worked in many retail positions throughout the years; her last job was her favorite as a reading tutor at an elementary school, where she really loved spending time with the children. She had a sense of humor, through and through, she never failed to make anyone laugh. Claudene was a giving person, whose faith filled life brought her peace.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years Dave Tomlinson; siblings, Marquette Baker, Denise (Darrell) Johnson, Renee (Brad Zwiers) Greig, Frank (Ginny) Baker; siblings-in-law, Paul (Shelly) Tomlinson, Michelle Tomlinson; many longtime friends, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Claudene was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; and a sister, Gisele 'Gigi' Baker.
Friends and family will gather at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., Howard, WI. (The entrance is directly across from BP gas station on Glendale Ave.) from 9:30 to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17; Mass to follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River, Michigan. The family extends a huge thank you to Bellin Oncology Staff and the staff of Unity Hospice for all of their care, support and kindness given to Claudene but also to her family.
