Mrs. Marvin (Chris) Steinke, 92, of Green Bay, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, May 20, 2012.

She was born on January 29, 1920 in Shawano, WI to the late William J. and Helen (Jensen) Wege. She attended the Ainsworth Grade School and Shawano High School. Upon graduation she was employed by F.W. Woolworth as a cashier and bookkeeper. On December 10, 1939 she married Marve Steinke.

She was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Altar Guild. She enjoyed playing bridge, was a member of the Junior Woman's Club, and was a Girl Scout leader. After moving to Madison, she was a part time employee of the Wisconsin Farm Equipment Association and was active in the Association's social affairs and special ladies' events.

She is survived by three children, Thomas (Mary) Steinke, Jacksonville, Fla.; Dr. Richard (Ruth) Steinke, Green Bay; and Jean Sprenger, Lake Mills, Wis.; five grandchildren, Paul (Jennifer) Steinke, Phoenix, Ariz.; Robin (Brian) Paul, Green Bay; Renae (Christopher) Miracle, Mequon, Wis.; Jason Sprenger, New York City, N.Y.; and Allison Sprenger, Chicago, Ill.; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marve; her parents, and her brother, Dr. William R Wege.

Friends may call at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S. Webster Ave., Green Bay, WI from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Peter Speckhard officiating. Burial will be immediately after the funeral at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano, WI.
