Charles Eugene "Charlie" O'Brien, 72, Green Bay, passed away on Friday afternoon, May 16, 2025. The son of the late Dennis and Betty (Brecklin) O'Brien was born in Antigo on February 16, 1953.
Charlie was a graduate of Antigo High School, Class of '71. He would go on to obtain an associate's degree from NCTI in electrical repair. He worked at Atlas Cold Storage in Appleton for over 25 years before retiring in 2018.
In his younger years Charlie enjoyed skiing. More recently he loved going to Packer, Badgers, and Brewers games with family and friends. Charlie was a deeply devout catholic and was a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #617.
Charlie was always willing to lend a hand, especially to his neighbors, whom he knew and cared about so much.
Charlie is survived by his siblings, David (Pam) O'Brien, Mary (Bob) Van Grunsven, Mike O'Brien, Kathleen (significant other, Scott Duckwitz) O'Brien, Jan O'Brien; nieces and nephews, Matt (Sarah) Van Grunsven, Mike (Liz) Van Grunsven, Patrick (Erika) O'Brien, Megan O'Brien, Christopher (Sarah) O'Brien, Caitlin (Cameron) Barton, Jon (Emily) Gilbertson; as well as other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends and family will gather at St. Joseph Catholic Church, corner of Ninth St. and 12th Ave., on Friday, May 23, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial for Charlie will be held at 11:00 a.m. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
