Cecily "CeCe" Rose Sherlock, 98, Greenleaf, passed away peacefully early in the morning of Monday, February 20, 2023. She was born December 23, 1924, in Green Bay to William and Agnes "Pearl" (Mye) Boncher.

Cecily's memories and stories about growing up made her the family historian. She loved to talk about Bozo, the family dog who followed her to school and stayed until school was over, and how her brothers talked her into riding the family cow. Her senior year she watched her classmates go to WW2 and some never returned. Courted by a returning veteran, she married James Sherlock on October 12, 1946, at Annunciation Catholic Church.

Being the wife of a Green Bay fireman in a one-car family, she became mom and dad, on his 24-hour schedule. Her children, Michael and Julie never heard, "wait till your dad comes home!"

She showed her love with her delicious meals, pies, and a bottomless cookie jar. She taught her children her strong religious beliefs by living a life of kindness and service. She was a Charter member of St. Agnes Catholic church. Her seamstress skills were used to make hundreds of quilts for the Arizona Missions sponsored by The St. Agnes Mission Society. She also was an active member of the Seamans Ministry with her husband. Flower gardens, and watching birds, were her joy. She traveled to several countries in Europe and many destinations in the US. She was the original mama bear, fighting for her son to find handicapped services that were few in the 1950s. She spoiled her grandsons and their dog, with treats, love, and her time.

Her laughter and humor were often heard in her home.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Haney; grandchildren, Matthew (Kristie) Haney, Andrew (Caitlyn) Haney; great grandchildren, McKian, Fallon, Chase; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cecily was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James; son, Michael Sherlock; brothers, Bill (Millie) Boncher, Harold (Bernadine) Boncher; sister, Mary (Norman) Capelle; sister-in-law, Joan (Jim) Smits; nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will gather at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 25; Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Patrick C. Beno officiating.  Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com .

Cecily's family hopes that they have expressed already their gratitude to the hands-on caregivers at Angels Touch and Moments Hospice. God bless you for your kindness and making CeCe smile.
