Catherine Ann Barber, 89, Green Bay, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Marla Vista Manor after a short illness. She was born to Charlotte (Franzen) and W. Leo Mulhearn on Oct. 29, 1927, in Akron, Ohio.
Cathy was a graduate of Copley High School in Copley, Ohio, and attended Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, for two years. She married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Barber, on June 30, 1949. The couple lived in Columbus, Ohio, while Jerry finished college. With Jerry's job for Armour, they moved around the country – Chicago; Houston; Lexington, Ky.; Detroit; and finally, to Green Bay. Cathy and Jerry divorced but later reconciled.
After an early career in bookkeeping, Cathy was a homemaker. She also enjoyed traveling around the United States, a special trip to Spain and regular jaunts to Door County. She served as secretary for Antique Study Club and, well into her 80s, she played bridge monthly with friends. But family time was best for Cathy, who loved sharing holiday traditions, playing Go Fish with the grandkids and cheering on the Packers – from the south end zone or gathered around the TV. Her family will miss her dearly. As a member of St. Agnes Church, Cathy's faith was always a comfort to her.
Cathy is survived by her sons, Mark (Lori) Barber of Sobieski, and Steve (special friend, Deb Greening) Barber of Green Bay; daughter, Susan (Eric) Barber Lindquist of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Jeff (Renee) Bowers of Green Bay, Sarah (Dan Kennelly) Barber of Madison, Justin (Amanda) Barber of Green Bay, Matt Barber of Madison, Scott (Lindsey) Risch of Appleton, and Katie and Jackson Lindquist of Eau Claire; great-grandchildren, Marshall and Zachary Bowers, Brianna and Kara Barber, Logan and Ella Kennelly, and Blakely Risch; brother, Jim (Kathy) Mulhearn of Akron; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Mulhearn of Stow, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Jerry, as well as her parents; brother, Dick Mulhearn; and daughter, Linda Bowers.
Friends may call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 with Rev. Patrick C. Beno officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Cemetery in Green Bay. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.

Special thanks to Marla Vista and Unity Hospice for their care of Cathy. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for St. Agnes Church.
