Carol Ella (Dobry) Lawyer Ingram, 88, Lena, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Carol was born in Green Bay to Gladys and James Dobry. She graduated from West High School in 1956 and later continued her education at Harper College and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.

Independent by nature, Carol preferred to do things on her own terms. She knew what she liked and was comfortable making her own way through life. She remained determined to live independently as she grew older and treasured the freedom to make her own choices.

Bowling was an important part of Carol's younger years and brought some of her closest friendships into her life. She was a bowler herself, managed Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley and Western Lanes, and spent 25 years as a director and coach with Green Bay Junior Bowling. She also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and following NASCAR.

Carol had a varied working life, including 17 years at St. Clair Memorial Hospital and positions with Georgia Pacific and AAR Corp. She also volunteered with the Red Cross and traveled to New Orleans to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Carol loved to travel. Her adventures took her to Hawaii, Mexico, Ireland, and South Korea, as well as many places closer to home. Ireland was a particular favorite. She returned with treasured ceramics and hopes of seeing even more of the world.

As life slowed down, Carol found pleasure in tending her flowers-especially her dahlias-working on a jigsaw puzzle, playing mahjong, reading a James Patterson novel, or simply sitting outside looking over the lake. She loved beautiful nails and jewelry, had a serious sweet tooth with a particular weakness for chocolate ice cream, and was famous within the family for her potato salad.

Carol was tremendously proud of her family and rarely missed an opportunity to tell others about them. She is survived by her six children, Larry Lawyer, Lori (Tim) Grove, Dan (Vivian) Lawyer, Dean Lawyer, Penny (Kelly) Phillips, and Peggy (Dan) Sopata; 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Jan (Mike) Liebergen and Rich (Sue) Dobry.

In her later years, Carol became an enthusiastic hugger and rarely ended a conversation without an "I love you." Her hugs were uniquely hers-held tight, accompanied by a little back-and-forth sway and the familiar "mmmm, mmmm, mmmm" her family knew well. And anyone who called her might be greeted by another Carol trademark: answering the phone with "Yellow!" instead of hello.

Carol's life was unmistakably her own. Her family will remember her independent spirit, her pride in all of them, her flowers and travels, her chocolate ice cream and potato salad, and all those little things that could only have been Carol.
