The Rev. Carl W. Peters graduated to the heavenly mansions prepared by the Lord on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Carl was born in Green Bay on January 13, 1932, the eldest son of William C. and Elsie (Behnke) Peters. He grew up on the family farm at Abrams, Wi. Carl graduated from Oconto Falls high school with honors in 1950. He was active in dramatics, band (playing his tuba in a polka band on weekends, and piano accompanist for the girls' choir.
He went on to graduate with his BA from Wartburg College in 1952 and Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa. He was ordained as a Lutheran pastor at First American Lutheran Church, Oconto in 1958. Carl served his internship at Zion Lutheran Church, Muscatine, IA and was installed as Associate pastor at First Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam in June 1958.
Carl and Marlene Aaroen were married on July 28, 1962 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Madison. Later that year Carl accepted the call to become pastor at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Stanley, WI. Adding a second pastor, they also began serving St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Gilman. In 1972, he accepted the call to become pastor at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders, WI:. While at Valders he was instrumental in starting Gloiria Dei Lutheran Church in Kiel.
In 1994 Carl retired from parish ministry to become the part-time Mission Outreach Director for the East Central Synod of Wisconsin, ELCA. He entered full retirement in 1999.
Marlene has been a full companion and support throughout his ministry. Since moving to Green Bay, they have enjoyed traveling in the United States including Hawaii, Canada and Europe. Their marriage has been blessed with two sons: Jeffrey of LaValle, WI. And Rick (Loretta) and granddaughter PrieAna of Eden Prairie, МN.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; sons, Jeffrey (Teri), Rick (Loretta); granddaughter, PrieAna; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elsie; two brothers, Earl (Sharon) Peters, and Elroy Peters; brother-in-law, Vernon Aaroen; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Earl and Marion Mylrea; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Aaroen.
Carl's family wishes to extend a special thank you to their neighbors Pat, Terry, Jacob, Nathan Challe, Constant Nolan, and Unity Hospice for all of their help and support.
